Danny Thompson is a race car driver and the son of a race car driver. He started his career at age nine and was never interested in doing anything else. He began in go-karts, moved up to Formula Atlantic cars and stadium trucks, and has dabbled in just about everything else in-between. These days he’s interested in speed records, and spends a great deal of his time figuring out ways to break them into bits. In 2009 he, along with Team Hajek Racing, built and drove the World’s Fastest Mustang. They went over 255 mph. Next year, he is interested in building a streamliner that he hopes will go twice that. He served as the president of the Mickey Thompson Entertainment Group and of Supercross, and has been a corporate and government consultant. He owns a race shop deep in the forests of Colorado, and occasionally restores some of his father’s old cars for museums. He is interested in “old school” hand fabrication, snow and water skiing, and going fast. He is happily married and has one son.
